How to use the word unscrambler

Use this page as the operating manual for Letter Word Solver: Letters you have, Find words, Filters, grouped results, exact anagrams, and copy.

Workflow

  1. Type letters and press Find words (or Enter in the field). Matches appear grouped by length, sorted alphabetically within each group, with a total count in the header.
  2. Open Filters, adjust length or pattern fields, press Apply. The engine re-runs unscramble against the bundled dictionary using the committed filter state.
  3. Read Exact anagrams when you need words using every letter at full length. The line appears above grouped results when any exact hits exist for the searched letters.
  4. Tap length buttons (All lengths or a specific count) to focus one bucket. The results list filters visually without a new server round trip.
  5. Select word chips and press Copy results. Selected words copy as lines; with none selected, all matches copy.
  6. Clear filters with Clear filters inside the dialog when constraints were too tight. Default filter state returns and the last searched letters re-run automatically if present.

Worked examples

Before you roll

Enter available letters A–Z; use ? for unknown slots. Invalid characters show Enter valid letters A–Z and ? only.

Open Filters when you need Minimum length, Maximum length, Starts with, or Contains constraints—Apply reruns the last searched letters.

Example chips under the solve panel run immediate searches for common demos.

On desktop, Show solve panel when the sidebar is collapsed so Letters you have and Find words are visible.

If something looks wrong

If you see Enter letters first, the field was empty—type letters before Find words.

If zero matches, loosen Filters or verify you did not require impossible length versus letter count.

If a known word is missing, it may be outside words.json—not proof the letters cannot form it in English.

If Filters dialog will not close, use Close or Cancel behavior—focus returns to the Filters trigger button.

Mobile and keyboard notes

Letters you have uses auto-capitalization and accepts mobile keyboards; Enter runs Find words.

Filters opens as a modal dialog with Apply and Clear filters actions.

Copy results works from the results toolbar when matches exist.

Announcements in the live region report match counts and validation errors.
